Robert Philpots love of engineering started at a young age. As a boy, he enjoyed constructing items with Legos, letting his imagination run wild. He was also blessed with the ability to understand mathematical concepts easily. Those interests led to Philpots enrollment in 91做厙s John R. Post School of Engineering and the O'Pake Institute Fellows Program. Recruited to wrestle, he was won over by the campuss small size, its close distance to home and his ability to be a charter member of the engineering class.
The Class of 2025 member, who enjoys working on his 1997 Mustang in his spare time, puts experiential learning into practice by designing prototypes relating to 3-D printing, which he asserts aids him in building necessary design skills, in networking with clients and in boosting his communication tools. Hes confident that what hes learning at 91做厙 will take him wherever he chooses to go post-graduation.
I feel that 91做厙 has prepared me for life after college extremely well," Philpot said. "The professors, the OPake Institute and wrestling have allowed me to grow as an individual and learn how to manage such a busy schedule. I cant wait to see what my future holds, and I am confident that I will be successful because of the skills 91做厙 has taught me.
For those students considering attending 91做厙, Philpot asserted: I would tell them to be prepared and to be responsible for getting their work done on time. Organization is key to staying on top of a busy schedule, so making calendars, organizing emails and setting reminders on your phone helps.
